Kendal Market Hall Regeneration
The Westmorland and Furness Council embarked on a multi-million-pound project to transform the historic Market Hall.
A project between City of Doncaster Council and Market Asset Management (Doncaster) Ltd. an operating subsidiary of The Pioneer Market Group Ltd.
In September 2018 MAM (Doncaster) Ltd. entered a 25-year lease partnership with City of Doncaster Council. Market Curators assumed responsibility for the Victorian Food Market Hall, Fish Market, Goose Hill, Sunnybar Market, Corn Exchange, Doncaster Woolmarket, Outdoor Market and Marketplace shops as well as Mexborough indoor and outdoor markets.
Up until the Market Curators takeover, the market was commercially failing with significant voids, poor occupational agreement management, unmanaged trader debts and annual trading losses of £0.5M p.a.. The market estate is probably the largest in the UL, requiring significant redevelopment.

Just prior to the new management and lease agreement between Market Curators and CDC, Raymond Linch acted directly for CDC in developing Doncaster Woolmarket into the UK’s largest F&B offer.
Since its launch as a F&B and leisure facility, anti-social behaviour in the are has reduced dramatically and the commercial regeneration of the area owing to high quality evening economy has resulted in a total reduction of commercial voids in the area.
Market Curators developed the Corn Exchange into an entertainment and specialist venue with 10 service retail units. The value was £3.5m
The project was launched in 2025 and has received national acclaim.
We are currently developing managing and at the planning stage for:
The redevelopment of the International Food Hall as a regional ‘must go’ independent food retailing centre of excellence. The IFL already boasts a plethora of best-in-class butchers and delicatessens and the intention is to improve the shopping environment and attract some additional food retailing specialists. Food education will also be included as an essential offer for all age groups.
The redevelopment of the Sunnybar Market into a jazz lounge and tap room including an inhouse brewery and distillery with seating for 150 guests.
The redevelopment of the Marketplace by replacing the fixed market stalls that are no longer fit for purpose with contemporary blend of fixed lock up kiosks and semi-permanent market stalls with retractable roofs.
